The Distribution of Boreal Forests Worldwide, the boreal forest covers 12 million km 2 and accounts for about 1/3 of the planet's forests, making it one of the largest biomes in the world (Lakehead University ). Found between 50° and 60° northern latitude, just south of the Arctic circle, the boreal forest stretches over the northern hemisphere in a large, circumpolar band across Canada. The boreal forest is the Earth's largest terrestrial carbon sink, storing billion tons of carbon, or the equivalent to 26 years of global carbon emissions. The Nature Conservancy’s project is located in one of the most intact areas. Results here will carry global significance. The ideas and.

Passing through more provinces than any other ecozone, the boreal forest is almost completely surrounded by four of the five other ecozones present in Canada. The only one it doesn’t share a border with is the desert ecozone. From the country’s interior to its eastern shores, a lot of traffic, both human and other species, moves through it.

The ammonite family Perisphinctidae, on which the standard zonation of the Middle and Upper Oxfordian has hitherto been based, is poorly represented in the Boreal Province. A new scheme is proposed based wholly on the family Cardioceratidae.

It has been worked out from extensive collections from a complete section at Staffin, Isle of Skye, with supporting material from East Greenland, the Scottish mainland, Yorkshire, East Anglia, and Dorset.
